I too use LibreOffice. In its default configuration, that thick black vertical line can also be slid (left mouse button) left or right. Slide Left enlarges the page (zooms in) and Right (zooms out).

Do You Use “ALEXA”?
by minimus ini got the amazon echo dot and it’s pretty good.
do you use it for anything?.
-
FatFreek 2005
I have two dots one in the bathroom where I'll start a bunch of music like "Alexa Shuffle Tony Bennett". He'll sing his numbers until you announce keyword paws and won't resume until you use that key word.
The following Saturday which is 7 days later she will remember that resume means you know who to play continue his music.
I liked it so much that I bought Amazon Auto however I sent it back after three or four days because it's too flaky

Were / Are the Governing Body "Rock Stars"
by Number 6 inin 1976 when i was a young lad of 6, fred franz came to glasgow and gave a talk in govan a suburb on the south side of the city (for those of you who dont know).
our congregation hired a bus to ferry us all to the hall and it was standing room only.
being only 6, i have only the vaguest of memories other than an old man shouting and bawling from the stage.

The year was c1956 and I had not yet been dunked at age 16. Behind Freddy was my smiling dad. This was just before the public address on a Sunday afternoon where he usurped 1 hr 45 minutes of our precious time. Earlier that day he addressed the Portuguese bros for a whopping 2 hours.

JW GoneBad4 hours ago:
"Disassociation: Specify by what actions(s) the individual disassociated himself, such as by resignation, nonneutral activity, failure to abstain from blood, or joining another religion."
Think about it. these are four issues for which they are not comfortable with defending, or they are ripe for litigation or charges of sedition.
"You disfellowship those who take blood transfusion."
No, we do not.
" do you shun them? "
We don't like to use that word, but I suppose you could call it that.
"Do you shun people who commit adultery?"
Yes, because they are disfellowshipped. -

I too, enjoyed it. One wonders if members of the GB had genuine feelings, tho deluded, how the JW landscape would be affected.

What The Fossils Say
by cofty inthe old creation book had a lot to say about the fossil record.
if i remember correctly it was some lie about all the fossils ever found would fit on a single table.
the reality is that there is an embarrassment of riches illustrating the evolution of life.

it was some lie about all the fossils ever found would fit on a single table.I
I had never read or heard that kind of rubbish, but then, I've been out for some 42 years. However, I just found two WT quotes that reflect that paraphrasing.
"Just how sparse is the fossil record regarding “ape-men”? Note the following. Newsweek: “‘You could put all the fossils on the top of a single desk,’ said Elwyn Simons of Duke University.”10 The New York Times: “The known fossil remains of man’s ancestors would fit on a billiard table. That makes a poor platform from which to peer into the mists of the last few million years.”11 Science Digest: “The remarkable fact is that all the physical evidence we have for human evolution can still be placed, with room to spare, inside a single coffin! . . . "
*** ce chap. 7 p. 86 par. 9 “Ape-Men”—What Were They? *** 1985
"Fact: At the beginning of the 20th century, all the fossils that were used to support the theory that humans and apes evolved from a common ancestor could fit on a billiard table. Since then, the number of fossils used to support that theory has increased. Now it is claimed that they would fill a railroad boxcar.38 However, the vast majority of those fossils consist only of single bones and isolated teeth. Complete skulls—let alone complete skeletons—are rare.39"

Just for fun...
by Vidiot in…(and for the very first time), i thought i'd post a new topic completely non-wt-related... about a subject matter i have a particular affinity for.... ..i'm a major movie geek (most people here already know that), but one of the many things i especially like are what i call "middle-finger victory lines".. they are memorable (and extremely quotable) moments of dialogue, wherein the protagonist says an extremely cool or badass comment to a very deserving defeated opponent.... ...usually (but not always) said when victory has just been literally snatched from the clutches of certain defeat, and serving as a tall, proud, and victorious flipoff to the often (but not always) shocked-at-the-sudden-turn-of-events enemy.. my ten favorites:.
"smile, you sonofabitch.
"sheriff brody to the shark......just before firing his last bullet into a scuba tank lodged in the charging shark's open jaws.jaws (1975).

"What we've got here is failure to communicate." This is actually a quote by Zero Mostel in the 1969 comedy movie The Great Bank Robbery . Towards the end of the movie, Luke persists in his rebellious nature and takes a stab at freedom – stealing a dump truck and taking flight. After his dramatic escape from the Florida chain gang prison ...

As to Armageddon being on that list, it is number 9 (of the 24).
"The date of the close of that "battle" is definitely marked in
Scripture as October 1914. It is already in progress, its
beginning dating from October, 1874. Zion's Watch Tower, 1892, Jan 15 p.23
The ‘battle of the great day of God Almighty’ii (Rev. 16:14),
which will end in A.D. 1914 with the complete overthrow of
earth’s present rulership, is already commenced. The Time Is at
Hand (1907), p 101
